  •

NACS does not encourage students to miss classroom instruction or assignments due to family vacations during the school year, but will work with families to limit hardships on the students. Please notify the school prior to a family vacation.

Students will be given all appropriate assignments and tests when they return from the absence.

Teachers will not prepare homework packets in advance for families to take with them on vacation, but do encourage students to read, do math flash cards, and journal on a daily basis while away from school

  • If there is any change in your child's normal going-home procedure, please send a note to school each day a change is requested, even if you have e-mailed your child's teacher. E-mailed messages may not get passed on to the office and create confusion at the end of the day. Sending a note helps us avoid errors and helps your child know what to expect. Please indicate your child's full name, the date, and the nature of the transportation change. If we do not receive a note from you, your child will be sent home using his/her normal routine. The end of the day can be very hectic , so please call the office earlier in the day with any last minute changes.

  • Please send a note with your child regarding any medical appointments that must be scheduled during the school day. Students leaving the building for appointments must be signed out in the office. Medical appointments are considered documented absences if a doctor's note is provided upon return to school.

  • Breakfast is served at Eel River from 7:25-7:45 every day.

  • We do allow healthy treats to be passed out as part of a birthday celebration at Eel River. Celebratory items such as flowers, balloons, gifts, etc. will not be delivered to students during the school day.

  • Good school attendance is an important part of any school program.  Students are permitted no more than 15 undocumented absences per academic year.  After the 15th undocumented absence, a referral to Allen County Juvenile Probation and/or the Department of Child Services will occur.  Documented days of absence will not count towards the 15 undocumented absences.

When a student is late or absent from school, a parent or guardian should call the absence in to the school before 8:30 a.m. Parents or guardians can call anytime to report an absence. Please leave the following information: your name and relationship to the student, your child's name, grade level, and teacher's name, and the reason for the absence. If we do not receive a call from you regarding your child's absence, please expect a call from the school to verify that absence. Students arriving at Eel River after 7:45 a.m. are considered tardy and must be escorted into the building by a parent or guardian and signed in. If your child is late to school or if you are dropping your child off from an appointment, please park your car, walk your child into the school, and sign them in. Students who leave school between 1:50 and 2:30 p.m. will be marked as tardy for the afternoon (PM).
